Shree Venkatesh Films held a party o celebrate the 21 glorious years of the Kolkata International Film Festival on Friday evening.
Hosts Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni were seen ushering in the guests. Inside, the topic of adda was cinema, cinema and more cinema. Many were heard talking about the films they saw at the festival. Jafar Panahi's Taxi topped most lists. As the results of the International Competition were yet to be announced, some were seen taking random picks. A host of others were already made plans for another festival -IFFI 2015. Said composer Indraadip Das Gupta, "There's nothing like good cinema. Once KIFF comes to a close, I'll be attending IFFI. I'm not only being invited to the screening of Kaushikda's (Ganguly) Cinemawala, but also to the closing ceremony ."
Director-actor Churni Ganguly, who's Nirbashito has won yet another award, was left smiling from ear to ear. Looking pretty in a salwar suit, Rituparna Sengupta said how the year has been special to her. Amidst all the chatter and clinking of glasses, a sense of loss prevailed. Director Shekhar Das who was missing compatriot Bappaditya Bandopadhyay thoroughly , said, "He used to call me post-midnight. I still wait for his calls forgetting he's not there anymore."
The evening drew to a close over a dinner that many will not forget in a hurry . The guests gorged on koraishutir kochuri, kasundi phoolkopi, sorshe chingri, maachher chop, dum biryani and went home hoping that the next edition of the festival arrives soon.
